Welcome from the Head of Secondary

Secondary School is a dynamic time for young people, and while this time creates a tremendous opportunity for growth, it can also present difficulties as students learn to navigate their changing world. As a Secondary School staff, we collectively feel called and are committed to providing quality education to adolescent students, in an understanding environment.

Secondary School is a dynamic time for young people, and while this time creates a tremendous opportunity for growth, it can also present difficulties as students learn to navigate their changing world. As a Secondary School staff, we collectively feel called and are committed to providing quality education to adolescent students, in an understanding environment.

The school’s mission is to ‘provide a Christian education that will prepare students in spirit, soul and body to serve the Living God in today’s world’. This is not an easy task, and not one we approach lightly. We rely on God’s grace and strength to equip us as we daily serve Him and our students.

In order to achieve this mission, we place Truth at the centre of what we do, believing that all truth is God’s truth, and that truth sets us free. Therefore truth is something to be earnestly pursued, and while it may at times be uncomfortable or not our first preference, if it is true, it will ultimately be good for us. At the same time, however, we recognise everyone is on an individual journey, and we all experience truth in different ways, therefore, we desire to make room for people’s experiences as we pursue truth together.

We endeavour to meet students where they are while still calling them up to grow and to pursue excellence in all they do. Our approach to education is that school is not primarily about getting a job, but rather it is about the people we become. To quote Cardinal John Henry Newman, “though the useful is not always good, the good is always useful”. We therefore aim at teaching the Good, the True and the Beautiful. Rather than focusing only on placing ‘information’ into students, we also focus on ‘formation’, desiring to partner with parents, families and churches in the vision to form young men and women who are prepared to serve God in today’s world.
